AVS Converter problems with VOB on DVD-R

I am trying to put a DVD-R movie onto my PS2 with AVS Converter in avi format. Since my DVD-R is a bit scratched, it only gets up to 21% complete. It's only one VOB file, but it freezes up my computer. I cleaned the DVD, still the same problem. I figured that remaking an ISO would help, but it still freezes at 21.
Is there any way to surpass the part where it would skip on the DVD in AVS Converter.

Try ripping with the old DVD Decrypter and when it throws the error click 'Ignore'.
If it can get past one or two errors, then you may get a playable disk.
