I just got this error with 2 consecutive discs which I've never got before so I didn't feel like wasting any more dual layer discs so I'm trying to figure out what's wrong. At first I tried burning on 2.4x and I got an error which was weird because I've never got that before either, so I just did auto for the second attempt.

I found an old thread with a similar problem to this, but I can't seem to find my IDE Controllers. In my Device Manager under the IDE section it has ATA Channel 0, IDE Channel then a bunch of Intel and Ricoh things. The other thread said to uninstall the primary and secondary IDE controllers but they don't seem to be there. Can anybody help me out?

    Hi
I would suggest its an issue with the dual layer disk you are using. There are pop-up errors for file size and burn speed. Have you tried updating your firmware, to make sure it will handle a DL+r? I take it that single layer disks are OK?

Also check that you have DMA on - it's not in the error log.

It's not the DVDs, I use Verbatims and they've worked up until this point, so I'm guessing it's not that. Also, it has handled DL+r in the past. Where is DMA, and how do I turn it on?

    http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/storage/IDE-DMA.mspx

The offical microsoft advice is above, but if it's worked OK before then it's prob not this issue.

Try closing any other processes when burning and free up some memory if you can. I had a reoccurring problem which was solved by defraging the hard drive. It seems the constant stream of files was becoming so fragmented than it was causing write errors.

Otherwise I would ask the people at Imgburn as they may have a solution.
