Need help recording tivo shows to dvd-r's with freeware.

I did a search but couldn't find anything with freeware, just shareware. I'm trying to do this:

1) Transfer tivo recordings to pc (I can do this part)
2) Burn them to a disc (????)

I'm ok with transfering to the pc, but I can't figure out what to do next. Also, it would be nice if I could cut commercials out before recording.
