I use UMF but never for encoding so not sure. If the avi extend's into the red when entered, have a look at the MPEG setting's in Project setting's at the bottom. If it's at the authoring stage, for every mpg I burn, I get the message it's too large for a regular DVD. I just click ok and proceed and it never is too large. Edit: set the Bitrate in customize at Mpeg setting's in Project setting's.
