I've been burning DVDs for about 5 years, using DvdArchitect, after making the video in Vegas. I used to burn 60-70 at a time for some H.S. band video's for several years and would only end up with just one defective disk.

Within just the last six months while using Vista and more recently Windows 7, Memorex and now Verbatum dvds, I've had some dvds end up with square pixeling during playback and a couple so bad they hung up customers stand alone dvd player units for tvs.

Never have used a verification program or error checking, as I don't believe DvdArchitect has this feature. My dvd burner, a Lite-on DVDRW LH-20A1S, isn't that old, maybe two years, and probably has burned no more than 200 dvds.

My questions are, How do I go about determining where the problem is? What programs can I use to verify the accuracy of the DVD after burned? And I'm thinking of going to the Taiyo Yuden Watershield for best quality and printable label.

Thanks, any input as to how to proceed is appreciated.

P.S. I've always used DVD-R, but heard recently that DVD+R is more compatible with players. I don't get the whole -R vs. +R thing.
