Microsoft hacked by Syrian Electronic Army again

Ten days after Microsoft's Skype social media resources were hijacked by the Syrian Electronic Army, the Microsoft News Twitter account — @MSFTNews — was hijacked. Within an hour the tweets were removed, but you can see them nearby in a screen grab from the Twitter feed widget on the Microsoft News Center web page.

The first tweet was a retweet from @Official_SEA16 during the last attack: "Don't use Microsoft emails(hotmail, outlook),They are monitoring your accounts and selling the data to the governments." [Note, if it needs to be said, there is no evidence that Microsoft has done any such thing.] The next tweet was the same message coming direct from @MSFTNews.

The next tweet was a crack at Internet Explorer, followed up by "Syrian Electronic Army was here".
Microsoft never said what the cause was behind the Skype hijack, but it may have been the compromise of a user who had access to those accounts. The same may be true here.

In the case of the Skype hijack, multiple resources were captured: a blog, a Facebook page and a Twitter feed. We were unable to find any other SEA hijacks besides @MSFTNews.
