    Hey guys,

what is the name of the tool used to making thread for screw in aluminum? When creating thread, what kind of compound i use to seal off any leak from the thread? I don't mean using the mechine; I just wanted to make something small at home.

    thanks

    Screw making - die

    screw hole making/fixing - tap

You can use loctite or a washer/seal to create a watertight seal, however, if you've created the hole correctly, depending on the depth of the hole you shouldn't need one.

I would use Permatex Ultra-Blue RTV. You can get it at autozone, pep boys, etc...

Make sure to get the "Ultra" stuff, this is the electronics-safe stuff.

Even when it works without sealant or leaks, it is still a good idea to use RTV just to be sure. Plus, it will keep the screw tight; even in heavy vibration.
