Slim PS2 started showing graphical artifacts??? HELP!!!

Hi guys, i have two slim ps2's and all of a sudden one of them has started to show graphical glitches and artifacts. They do not affect game play in any way and to tell you the truth there not to the point that they actually stop me playing a game.

However i was planning on selling one of them to fund a network adapter for my my fat ps2 and this problem has affected them plans.

Has anyone ever had an issue like this o could anyone offer me some advice as what to try???


I fix x boxes regularly and feel confident in my abilities its just i dont know enough about the ps2's structure or if this is a common fault as i could not find any info on the matter.

Can someone please offer me some guidance or even a theory to get me started

Also check your AV cable, as I know I had one that if I bumped it even the picture or sound would act up.

If its not affecting game play in any way, its like Hennio says, try another TV or games.

Thanks for your suggestions but ive already tried all that as i have another slim ps2 that plays fine on the same TV and with the same cables!!

Im probably going to have to sell it as faulty, But i thought if it was in fact a memory/GPU problem i might be able to try something like the xbox penny equivalent :)

Only thing is i dont know what im looking for so ill just have to start touching things on the motherboard while game play is in progress to see if i can find the fault!!

Yes you can check out the fuses, chips etc.

I only know of this site for up to V12 to check fuses.

I'd open it up and make sure the fan & heatsink are dust free, artifacts are often a sign of overheating.
