When burning a .Iso file for backups onto another DVD-R, the game now has no color. Can anyone help?

#1 08 Apr 2010 @ 17:36
I'm attempting to backup my Metal Gear Solid 3: Substance disc onto a DVD-R to prevent my new one from being destroyed like my previous one. After the burning process which says it's successful, I put the game in to see it has no color. As well certain objects have black vertical bar lines, I have tried multiple things as browsing for the .MSD file and then burning.

The program I am using is a registered version of PowerISO and I'm burning at 4x speed, which is the lowest I can go. Any help will be thankful and much appreciated.

use imgburn to backup the game and too burn it.

Burn it at 4x speed

PowerISO is not the greatest too use for console games.

Also double check your game as Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance is a dvd9 game

Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence is a DVD5 game.

Hi there. With help of what device your are trying to play your backups on your console? What is the region of your originals? If it is not because of the software in your computer, try the following:
Some TVsets do not switch automatically between NTCS and PAL signals. Do it manually. Look for "colour mode" on your remote control or TV.

I was half asleep when I posted obviously, lol

Yes it looks like your probably trying to play a PAL game on NTSC

You may need to patch the ISO first.

Myself I use component cables and can play PAL games fine on my NTSC HDTV, so I have no need to patch.

Still imgburn is better than PowerISO for burning PS2 games or any console games.

Hmm, so exactly how do I patch iso files? This is strange to me, because I'm new to the burning world lol.

Hi there. One more time: with help of what you are trying to play your backups? A modchip or a swap magic? Have you already tried to switch manually colour mode between PAL and NTSC on your TVset? Do it 1st before patching your ISOs.

If your using swap magic or fmcb, then read this thread on patching

Some of the links are dead, but you will find the patchers on sksapps.com

To Konivita: I'm using a Duo 3 Ultra mod-chip that I personally installed myself. I'm terribly sorry for not answering your question. As well the "Colour" mode on my HDTV didn't seem to help it either.

To smokyrain: I used some old VGA cables I had for my PS2 and it worked on my PS2 LOL. Thanks for throwing that out there, I really appreciate the posts.

Also, is it possible to still patch via Mod-chip? This is incase if something happens to the VGA cables.

For the Duo 3 ultra it shouldn't matter if you patch the ISO in case something happens to your cables, seeing that modchip has no 'Color Correction' for PS2 backups

It will play the Original Import with no problem though or it should.

I meant if I lose them, or need to plug-in to an older TV. If that was the case, I would have ot go to the non-VGA cables and the color problem would persist again.

Then you would have to patch the ISO with a pal>Ntsc patcher if your PS2 is NTSC
It should then play fine, but sometimes the picture is off screen a bit even though you patched.
Some games have a screen alignment in the OPTIONs, but not all games do.

I don't think the cables are too expensive if you did lose them.

Hi there. Have you already solved your problem? If your original NTSC disks are also played in black and white, you can try make your console to show PAL signal always. You have to solder 2 points, it depends on your ps2 motherboard number GH-0xx or version, write it, i'll give you the picture.
#14 27 Apr 2010 @ 19:34
Half and half there. I solved it via using VGA cables, but I would still need to patch in case I go to a lower definition TV. I think you patch using ADR Patcher or something similar, my problem though is I can't find a program that does this. If it's against the rules to post anything of the sort here, then ignore this particular post.
