So here's my situation. I have a CanonFS200 obviously and I'm trying to make it the primary video device for the church. I'd like to use it as webcam but I don't think that will happen. For the moment I'd settle for putting recordings up on Vimeo to embed later.

My problem is that I need to be able to edit the footage and after some probing I was able to extract the video files but what I have is a folder of .MOD and .MOI files. I was able to upload the .MOD files to YouTube directly and the footage was ok minus the fact that it wasn't showing in widescreen. I tried all my media players (QT,MP,VLC] but WMP was the only one that would even show the footage. and it showed perfectly in the right ratio and everything but oddly enough WMM wouldn't let me import the clips for editing. The other footage I have uploaded fine but it's like 45-60 minutes long and YouTube has a 10 minute limit so I couldn't even see it.

Here's how I tried to solve it. I thought I might try out a Live Linux Distro I got DyneBolic which is supposed to be media processing focused. Sounded good but I'm wireless and when I booted it up I couldn't figure out how to get online so I couldn't google any instructions/help and switching back and forth is insane idea for that purpose.

If anyone could suggest something a program that could help me out I'd appreciate it. At best something that will let me edit the files as I have them. At least something that will let me convert them to something more edit friendly. I'm not planning on anything too complicated. I just need to clip/trip some portions maybe replace the audio track. I think they want to use the baptism video shown as a sort of intro movie but I need to turn it into a highlight reel like and make it maybe 30-45 seconds.
