cable R7-J704 TYPE CM 4PAIR UTM cable first would any of those cables make a diffrance why i cant connect do i need some other sort of cable like cat 5 or something but no matter what i do i can not ftp to the xbox i cant see what my ip is on my xbox as i have to have it the room with the router and cant see anything on a tv screen to see if a ip as been asssigned to put it in a ftp programe any help or walk through would be so gratefull to me ps i am using a router and i dont know much about networking or ftping sorry for long ?
what does the xbox say? .. it should be getting an ip from the router. Unless you are running a modded dash you can't ftp.. and it needs setting up from the xbox end.
well i think its modded as i got it from a freind it as dashboard on it and i can change the themes of it ect as it as lots of ga,es amd films on it but its the ftp bit i can not do i dont know what settings to change in the xbox like what to put in the ip ect boxes and do i need a cat 5 cable as i only have a cat 6 and another cable and i have to keep setting the thing and then unplug it to bring to the computer so i cant really see if the router has given it a ip to put into the ftp box
well now thinking of it it might be just the normal xbox dash as it comes up with the xbox ball when firsty boot up but i go into settings and change themes ect or i can go into the dash but no idea what dash it is as i have no clue what they all look like not sure maybe evox but not postitive

I can't help it if people are unable to READ an answer and just keep posting the same crap over and over... It's 5 button presses.. a monkey could do it.. but then again it is school holidays.,, so again for the hard of thinking... On the left of the dash are the system options.. go to "system" .. then "network settings" .. scroll down until you come to where it says "static" and press "A".. it changes to DHCP.. scroll down to the bottom and save.. it will say you need to reboot to make changes.. so exit back to the main dash and reboot. That should work and there will be an IP displayed. f-in rocket science!!!.. I wish people would LOOK at the system options before acting like complete morons and posting loads and loads of pointless crap.. or perhaps join the Disney forums where their skills will no doubt be appreciated. Guess this is the world of idiots M$ have skillfully created.. people without even the first clue to type in "unleashx network setup" into a google search.
well i tried all what u said in the dash put it into dchp gave me 192.168.0.3 but still wont connect says A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.even changed its self in the config part on computer so dunno what else to fo except bin the bloody thing
