I could use a little advice with my troublesome xbox.

It is pretty old I got it 2nd hand from a friend, and I think it wasn't new to him. It has an Executer 2 fitted with 3 switches on the front.

Until recently it was sat in a cupboard forgotten until I decided to dig it out and replace the faulty dvd drive and fit a bigger hard drive, all went well and its been running nicely for a month or so until a few days ago.

I'll reboot it and it will switch itself on and off 3 times then on the third time the led will flash red and green with no display on the screen and the dvd drive is locked. If I switch the modchip off it will boot to the ms dash clock screen, I haven't tried running an original game since I no longer have any (mostly used it as a media center anyway).

If I play around with it a bit, leave it alone for 5 mins it seems to start working again then doesn't play up again until the next day. I was just playing splinter cell for a few hours and then got fed up and rebooted to the dash and used ftp to clear some games of the hd that I don't like and when I rebooted it started fragging again. 15 mins later and a few rounds of switching it on and off and its working again and running midnight club while I type this.

So, any suggestions? Faulty modchip? Something overheating? I dunno...
