Western Digital. When you say portable I assume you mean "my passport" ext hardrive. Regardless the answer is yes you can however...

From researching wd I beleive it comes preformatted with NTFS.
You will need to reformat it to FAT32. After this your hardrive will be seen by your ex7000hd and will work perfect.

I have an ex7000hd myself and find this convenient ext hard feature very good!
