I can no longer access the configuration menus in my EX7000,
when I press menu, and then select Deepscan, Fast install or even factory reset (any of that menus options), including the fast colour keys for EZ Config/ install I get the "Enter PIN" prompt, and as soon as I enter the 4th digit the following occurs:
- The PIN prompt dissapears as though nothing happened.
- No indication that PIN was right,
- No indication that PIN was wrong,
- nothing at all,
- the existing menu is simply displayed there in the default state as when the MENU button is pressed.
I tried reflashing - which I could only do by going back to an earlier (Jan '09) flash.tbn file because when you switch the box on and off the search for a flash file also checks that the version is the same, so if you try to flash with the same version the display will read "Same Version", and ignore it. So you must go back to an earlier version (which I also tried to access any of the config menus with) without joy, then I reflashed to the later firmware again (Mar '09) with the same failures.
Have tried the codes:
1004
1000
0000
6502 (master reset code)
Tried searching for this even, contacted my supplier who suggests I start this thread for the ex7000HD problem as he said he would accept return for my box and then simply do the same as I am doing here before giving me a replacement.
Any other ideas?

You mean a box seller told you to come here for support instead of them providing any ??
Did they say anything about that when you bought your box ?

Whatever you say, say nothing when you talk about you know what for if you know who might hear you, you know what youll get. Youll be sent off to you know where for you would not know how long. Maybe I could search through the threads so you dont have to ??

I wonder if there is a Reset Button or often 2 contacts that will clear all memory from mainboard, thus wiping all memory/firmware.
Most boards will have this somwhere , if you know where u r looking.
Is the Original boot image available to start from scratch.
Though you may not want to open the box if its still in warranty.
Im sure some of the more Techie folk will put me right on the reset/clear option.

Just another thought, but have you tried reloading FW
via NM cable method... not sure what diff it will make but i would give it a go.

NM cable method would write to the same PROM / FPGA in the box.
You probably onto something with the HW reset, but as far as I can see it cannot be done from outside the box - it's still warranty.
Is there a combination of the keys (those ugly silver ones) that would produce the same effect as a factory reset.
