Hello
I've got 2 Eurovox EX 5100 boxes. One of the boxes works fine and the other cannot record.
The faulty box can play recordings from the non-faulty box (by exchanging the hard drives).
When I try to record on the faulty box the screen freezes for 10-15 seconds and then doesn't record anything.
In the PVR manager there is a 4 second recording but this is just an empty container.
If I take the hard drive out of the faulty box and place it in the working box I can record.
So this is definitely a recording issue on the faulty box (just so that's clear :) )
I have 2 options here
1. Fix the issue. Any suggestions welcome. I have flashed the box several times to 1.0 ST4 Jan 16 2009.
2. Install the FTA firmware and send back to vendor. If anyone can help me find the FTA firmware for this box that would be great

I upgraded firmware to UFLEX5100PVR_220709.exe and it's the same problem
I've just noticed your second question. Both of the hard drives were left in their original factory state (probably RAW or Unformatted). Both work on the working box.
I will try to format to FAT32 to see if it makes a difference

as ya dont mention the drive size, you may need to format to fat 32 and partition the drive, if its over 250 or higher, google swissknife if you use XP, this will do it in secs for ya.
When ya flash the box, make sure ya factory reset the box and re-scan the chans, make sure the box is is off when taking the drives in and out also.
Try this also
Down power the box, then remove the hard drive turn the box back on with out the hard drive and let it boot up, now down power it again and push the hdd in, now power it up and click your record button on a program
Now if any of the above dont work, contact yer supplier

dont think there is FTA firmware for it, the prob, unless someone wants to correct me, is that ya cant take the FTA off a box, it is just overwrote with new firmware, but why would it matter that its not FTA firmware? if there is a new firmware for a box that fixs glitches and you apply it to the box, that shouldnt invalid a warranty.

hmmm
it matters because of this clause in the vendor's terms and conditions
We only accept returns if the cable boxes are in their original state(sealed) and untampered with. The boxes are sold as Free to Air boxes. If any returns are found to have software on them allowing them to decrypt subscription based channels we have the right to deny any warranty and deny a refund as the terms and condition mentioned herewith have been broken. Modified boxes will not be accepted back

sealed and untampered with? thats a load of cobblers, so if ya open the box and take your eurovox out and use it, yer warranty is void, WTF........

"sealed and untampered with" means the Vox box not the packaging it comes in.
on the back of the box there is a security/tamper seal. this has to be intact or else warranty is void. not my rules

there is no reason why you would open the actual box, so yes they are right, but if you put firmware on the box that improves the features which the manufacturer has released that shouldnt void any warranty, a lot of the features are only fixed by concurrent firmware releases,
Try this
Press Menu then OK, on language settings Type 1968 once, then pull down and turn emulation off save and exit (blue button) if that works, yer box is now FTA, the EMU is off.
