Site update - March 16th 2010

AfterDawn.com has been updated! In addition to renewing the layout of the site we have also speeded up things considerably. The new version has been tested on our Finnish site for several months, and during the testing we have managed to improve the new version even further.

You can now enjoy this new layout at English AfterDawn.com and English Discussion Forums as well! We have also introduced new sections to the site, and re-arranged things a bit.

Maybe and idea to use a mates PC with a 9 pin serial socket so you dont have to use the USB adaptor, when you feel you have more heart in it pop back and and we will try and help you out.

i had expvr, did that start properties this mentioned above, and put it on Com 1. i got a cd with mine from the cableboxshop, and it had a tutorial on it. in dublin, nt* too. try com one, and then try turning things on and off again. it took me a few tries, but i got it eventually

sorry, the writing there was awful. that start, my computer properties thing worked, with com 1. To get to that screen, u need to go right to the advanced part of it, then there's a reboot as far as i remember when you get the download

lads, wouldnt mind a bit of other advice if its available. do i need a booster box if i want to run a length of cable from our main ntl digital entry site, upstairs about 15 metres.Or would a good splitter and cable do? I want to split the broadband cable, run it into a tv downstairs, then one upstairs. So, the main signal has a split into the computer, i want to split that cable into the computer, and two tv's (one 2 yards away, and one 15 yards away. Im gonna go buy this stuff in Maplins tomorow, and would appreciate advice on whether it will work and whether i need a booster, and suggested models.

The end intention is to have the pvr upstairs, cos my little brothers are doin my nut in watchin it with their mates downstairs where we have the digital, and i need to watch the football without me oulone wreckin me head :)

lads, in advance, thanks a million

Hi all,

Just got a EUROVOX EX5000 PVR with 120GB HDD. Managed to update the firmware 2nd time ok and started up ok as well. Manage to do a quick install and the box starts to scan and finds CNN and goes there, and in all finds 11 channnels only. I have left and box to continue scanning, but the ( code being updated ) does not come on screen.
Does anyone know what is wrong. I have tried the right code for the SP I have and have also tried manual install with same result.
The stats are, Frequncy 118.000 MHZ, symbol rate 6.952 for TW, Modulator QAM64 and quality 83%.
I would appreciate any help guys.

Regards,
Frank

Do a factory reset and powerscan again from the direct feed.

What firmware did you use and I presume you have the coax from the direct feed into the Cable In socket on the back of the box. Also presuming you have a live feed.

Hi lads,

Flashed amny Eurovoxs before but done my first 2008 MaxV today. Flashed with no problems but when I turn it in the screen on the tv is blank (no channels tuned obviously) but no buttons on the remote will work except standby? I've tried 3 different remotes with the same result...

Any ideas?

Factory reset and try it at the Starview feed. If it still doesnt work, reflash and scan again.
