As some of ya know, the MMDS system is currently switching to Nagra 3, Now this means your current box will become useless like those that were on cable, the first sign is the audio going on chans, second one is obvious, a new card for the lucky punters, once the card has been sent, you will have approx 3 weeks until the chans are gone. Movies are now gone or going, this is followed by other premium chans such as sports etc, I am basing this on the change over speed and how it happened with cable in ire and in the UK Scanning or rescanning wont work, this is the downhill side you of Nagra 3. No, the SV6 or Kryptview wont work as these are DVB C, the box you need is DVB T, so until the time a T variant box or dongle for it hits the market, all you can do is sit tight until one does appear, I am sure you will hear it here as soon as solid news comes in
Hi, What about north county dublin that is dvb-c on mmds it went to n3 along with the true cable a while back it also works off the same symbol rate. Will any of the new equipment work in this area. Is there a difference ? I used to use a eurovox sl 1000 dvb-c to decode the mmds signal. So my question is.....will the equipment work in the dvb-c areas with mmds which works off the same symbol rate as the true cable..... I know it does not in the dvb-t areas
Only true cable (old nthel) 6887 is working, dont think MMDS on the 6887 platform is working, Chorus true cable aint working properly as far as I am aware and Corus MMDS will need a different box altogether (T Variant) Can stand corrected on this, should anyone want to confirm
I find it hard to understand why it wont. Is it a firmware ? Or are the cards different for true cable ? The bit I cannot get is that, surely its the same signal just being broadcast by a different method after all they are both dvb-c. On that understanding this new equipment should be able to read these signals. Then the card info comes via the net. Maybe I am totally wrong as I have little or no knowledge as to how these work
nowt to do with signal mate, its the small matter of whats decoding yer chans, if that aint set up then it wont work, so until its confirmed or is set up, the arnet or sv6 wont work
basically its down to your N.I.D ie. network id.. if that is different to the network id on true cable then it wont work on cable transmitted through mmds
both cable and mmds cable using the symbol rate 6887 will work on same box DVB-C the MMDS running on the 6875 platform will not work on a DVB-C box it will only run DVB-T box now for the good part the irish channels lost sound again so you know what the mean's next dont you .............?? yes you guessed it the sports will be gone next week then the irish channels will lose sound again .......... and yes more will be gone until nothing left ..... so what i suggest to people there will be a T varient box coming so just take out a min sub so you wont have to pay the downgrade fee when new box comes along and be aware the you WILL need a broadband SUB as well if you want the box to work
oh right. so if i buy the digivox T which should be in stock soon, will that work on the nagra 3? or is the digivox T an "old" box too?
NO box ou at the present time will work on N3 not even the Digivox all them boxes are for the recycle bin including all them boxes in the Uk as well
grand, so last question. i need to order ch*rus to get the internet thing set up n then somehow get out of the contract after a few months and use a new box, or will i always need to subscribe to ch*rus to use the new box?
you will need broadband 24/7 connected to your box for it to work but dont go out and buy any of the boxes that are out now as they wont work for you
