What you have heard is correct The sat companies change the key codes about once a month. The keys are 2 sets of numbers/letters, 16 digits in each key. The new bin files that are loaded into the receivers are designed to find the keys automatically but at times you have to know how to manually enter them if needed. During some encryption changes your receiver may be completely down for a few days to a week depending on how big a change there is in the encrypyion sequence. Its all a game and you need to learn how to play it properly. Do a search for FTA forums, join one and do a lot of reading on the receiver you decide to purchase. Have fun.

Hi,
Yes there are times when you have to upgrade the "Bin" file to keep up with the changes from the sat network. This is not a big deal at all. We just had a big change from D...network and it took several dayd for the coders to catch up. The new bins do not require any entering of keys manually...it all happens automatically.

You are looking for KEY numbers not BIN numbers. The Bin numbers are like what I gave you. Its the number assigned to the file. I'll take a look at the key numbers and see if they changed.
Jerry
Check your e-mail, I sent you a PM with the keys from 6/1/06

The last blackout wasn't caused by a key change. You have to install that new bin I posted a link to. The encryption coding was changed about 3 weeks ago. New keys won't help if the bin file isn't updated. I can check my receiver keys tonight after work to see whats on it. If they changed I'll re-send the new ones to you by PM again.

The keys haven't changed but I still sent them to you again. Check your e-mail again and install both sets. If your receiver doesn't work then its another problem.

@jelpesao, You should probably start a new thread giving us your brand and model of FTA box that you are using. Also by codes, do you mean the key numbers or the new bin file?? This thread was on the Coolsat 5000.
If your box is the same then then this thread is OK to use. Need more info.

What's the difference in installing a new bin file and entering new keys?

The bin file is sort of like the program that tells the receiver how to work. The keys are 2 sets of numbers/letters (32 in each set) that actually open up the encryption. The bin file and keys need to work together to decrypt. If the bin file isn't updated to the proper version, changing the keys won't always work. The new AUTO ROLL bin files will usually find the new keys for you so you don't have to manually enter the new keys.

Thanks Jerry746. I think I must have installed the auto-roll bin file because I didn't have to enter any keys. The file was given to me from a friend. I'm totally new to this thing so thanks for answering my question.

Charlie is messing around with the system once again. All PPV's and PORN is out. You will start to notice other channels dropping off aswell. Last time when 1.23 was released it took the coders some time to post them. I think it was like a week before it was released. We all knew it was coming. Hopefully Norw Group will be on the top this time and come out witha fix real soon. Hopefully come out before Viewsat's! :-) I'll keep you all informed of any new bin releases. Have a good one!

The answer is right above your post. DN is changing the encryption coding again. The channels have been going black for about a week now. They are working on the problem but no new bin file yet. We just have to wait it out.

More channels are gone. The VOD's are gone now. Atleast last time when this happend a few weeks back we still had those. They must be doing some major changes. Still no fix out. I look for something to come out this weekend. or early next week. But i checked last nite and only a few locals are up. Most everything on 119 and 110 are down. Just be patient and it will come. Come on NORW!!!!

Well......you're going to have to set back and wait on this one. This is a little bit more complicated ECM than the other one. Be patient. This is part of the game. If you can't hang with it i suggest calling and subscribe. Good luck! Drink a beer...relax! It will be here soon!

ECM = Electronic Counter Measure DN = Dish network
They send down these ECM's just for this reason (FTA box's, rom cards ect...) They mess with us...we mess with them...Its a game.
If you go to hashhu.co* i wont post a live link. i think you can figure that out. go there and READ! If you want to learn more....you have to READ. and dont go on ther asking questions....they dont like to answer questioin that have already been answered. Just warning you...so read ..and if you still have a question then post...Good luck !!! :-)
