THIS IS FOR BOTH IRELAND AND THE UK AND HAS BEEN FULLY TESTED IN BOTH AREAS THIS IS THE LATEST FILE FOR THE STARVIEW 4 USB THIS FILE IS RECOMMENDED FOR USERS TO PUT ON THEIR BOXES TO STOP THEM FROM DYING FROM THE POWER FAILURE PROB CAUSING THE BOOTLOADER NOT TO START UP PUT THIS ON AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO SAFE GUARD YOUR BOX LINK IS BELOW LATEST V1.12 FILE
Is there any advantage for UK users or should they stick to 1.07? Is it just the boot failure problem that's been fixed or has the epg/recording issue been sorted? Thanks.
Mickah that is to be used in both Uk and Ireland, as its to do with boxes dying, so if your box dies and wont boot up, you now know that this firmware was for that purpose. THE CHOICE IS YOURS BUT DONT COMPLAIN TO THE SUPPLIERS WHEN IT HAPPENS. THAT IS WHY THIS FIRMWARE WAS RELEASED TO STOP IT HAPPENING. It has been tested in both Uk and Ireland
There was no problem with any boxes frying using 1.07. The question is whether there is any advantage in the UK from changing the software, or are all changes between 1.07 and 1.12 focused on the problems that Irish users have been having with the encryption changes. Given Starview's recent track record when it comes to frying genuine boxes I'm reluctant to change firmware unless there's a definite performance advantage for UK users.
its not just an Irish problem its all genuine boxes that are having the bootloader problem as i have said its your box do as you wish with it but there is no point complaining if it does go as starview have released a fix for the problem
What do you mean by bootloader problem? Do you mean the common 8882 problem that has existed from day one with the SV4, or the 'invalid box' power problem that has existed only since 1.07 was superceded?
8882 error can be fixed the other problem cannot as its a main board problem which means a new box invalid is a clone problem not genuine one
i have put the 1.12 on my box.iam in the uk,there does not seem a problem with the new 1.12,although i never had any issues with the 1.07 firmware and my box was not fried, but i have changed to be on the safe side(i hope?)
i have just found an issue with version 1.12.when you press epg it starts to download the full epg automatically, not sure if it should do that but version 1.07 did not, unless you pressed for a full epg download.
Looks likely then that they've just changed the last beta release so that it doesn't fry genuine boxes. If that's the case I'll stick with 1.07, which never caused boxes to fry anyway - only subsequent releases did this.
Can I just ask whats this about the "bootloader"? What is it or what does it do?? Also is it recommended we update to this 1.12 version or just a suggestion?? Thanks!
just put 1.12 on my box in uk the epg issue loading to 100% was also an issue for mine when i was running 1.10 so not really affecting me would be nice not to have to sit and watch it though
i thought only an earlier batch of sv4 genuine boxes were suffering so is all genuine boxes in danger even if i bought one tommorrow ??? well what i mean is will all boxes with the 1.10 beta firmware die or whats the danger ??
v1.12 is the last fix in ireland to fix the bbc and the other channels that were missing is that right but when you put it on a box used in england the box keeps updating epg but does not do this in ireland. so if we have put this on a couple of months ago do we need to update again or are we ok
