There is a new starview hd receiver to be launched mid November ready for the Christmas rush.

Full spec will be available soon but here are a few details to keep you updated

The Starview hd is a duel tuner satellite and cable receiver capable of receiving both satellite and cable channels. simultaneously

it has 2 x usb ports this time one on front and one on rear both providing pvr function and future firmware upgradeable.

This is a full hd receiver in satellite and cable modes not a useless upscaling box that's pointless

the unit has a ci slot with a multi read smartcard reader , the satellite side is a fully motorised enthusiast receiver fully boasting all features of other hd sat receivers on the market. but can be used also for freesat installations if required.

the cable side of the unit is supposed tobe the best cable receiver to come to the market

the unit is expected to retail @ the £199.00 mark which is very cheap if you compare it to other hd receivers in the market with half the spec at around £180 for cable only or £289 for satellite and terrestrial boxes.

No serial port so no way of resurrecting from a bad flash without opening up the unit?

    Genius.

If I put in my Sky card, would I still get all the channels that I pay for i.e. footy channels and movies?

I thought that having this new box would save me some space i.e. Sky and SV2 for a new SV HD box, but what's the point of having the satellite ability if it's only going to give you freeview channels when you can get these on cable ?

Or is the satellite ability like Dreambox and Technomate ?
