What a Laugh, dont be sucked in....

Well as you know, we suffered a hitch lastnight, boxes seem to be working again for now but Im sick of these so called techs that say they have cracked the box with Nagra 3...for example, there is a regular that sorts these Virmin boxes out when they go blank, he rinsed his regular customers lastweek for £100 to get their boxes back on. He blagged them by telling them they need a new box so for £100, he'll give them a fresh working box...I warned many about him but they are all to stupid to realise they just thrown their money down the Sh**house.

Anyway Ive seen this guy since and I was shocked how convincing he thought he was by telling me, "yeah we've had boxes come down from Leeds and ive fixed them to work again therefore that why Im charging what I am..." I replied "yes that because we here in Leicester havnt switched yet so its bound to work down here - take the box back up to leeds then tell me its working..." I wanted to poke him in his eye, he was doing me head in. This morning Ive heard that he's sorting folks boxes out again this afternoon and has told them they are the new adapted models that wont be effected by the N3 changeover.lol - why do people get sucked in so easy, it winds me up!!!

I know exactly what he's doing, hes taking the boxes he gets from these dumb a** people, mixing them up after he's got the channels back and returning them to the customers not forgetting he's charging £100 for this each time...

My math tells me he earnt well over £3000 last week so he's on for another few grand this week too. Oh boy, Id hate to be him when these people go back to him after the switchover.ha
I told him that he's going to be a hunted man when the N3 hits us in the mids because he's telling them all he's got the fix.hahahaha

- you know his reply was "I have a team all over the Uk working on this and we have sorted it" I was surprised because I used to think this guy actually knew what he was talking about.What a plum!!

Anyway thats my rant over and before anyone says it..NO im not asking if there is a fix etc, I know exactly where we stand bla bla bla, I just wanted to share this with you all.

 

thanks raartoot for the laugh i enjoyed it lol the best part was he has people work all over the country on it ..... im not from the uk but i know they cant be fixed !!!! i dont blame i blame al the tools that are giving him i 100 a go lol

I agree though... those shelling out the money are the fools not the scam artist thats getting away with it!

 

great post raartoot, its amazing that so many people hear about a guy that knows a guy that has a fix. or they know a guy who is friends with another guy who works for one of the cable companies and he told me the fix will be out october, and it never comes. i know a fella personally and his dad was offered a box(with the n3 fix in it, yea right)for €200, i told him tell his dad its bull and not to waste his money and that the guy is a conman. i tell everyone before buying any box to go to afterdawn and check it out there(sadly some people will caught out and lose there money)these guys a are laughing all the way to the bank(€3000 in a week) i suppose they are proving what they say about a fool and his money is true. there is a bloke about at the minute selling mmds boxes and aerials( a fella asked me what the crack was and i said they are changing to n3, it may only last weeks)he stil bought the aerial and box and even paid the guy to install it believing the guy would be able to fix it if it went off, so there you go.

 

anybody see rogue traders lastnight,bbc1 8pm.the guy in england selling digital tv aerials.now he was funny,lol.

 

Its a pity that people just want a quick fix (not talking drugs). Its fun to learn how to program a box to do different things. I feel no sorrow for people who won't make the effort. They just want something for little and don't care about how they get it. To be honest if someone is not willing to do this as a part of a hobby and learn something, then gets taken to the cleaners, I don't have much sympathy

 

your right there fintanni, i take it as a hobby . i love scouring posts threads and tuts for info(even so im no expert)but they do say knowledge is power. just to add to my post above(the guy who bought the mmds box and aerial)the same guy also got a free to air dish and reciever installed and had another problem(which i warned him about to no avail)i dont know if its the same in you guys neck of the woods but there are guys fitting dishes and recievers who are cutting corners down here. when they fit the dish to the wall rather than run a new line of cable they are simply cutting the existing chorus cable, and then joining the sat cable to it. this may seem ok to most but what if you have no aerial for the 4 irish channels and you use the cable connection for those channels,they done it on atleast 4 houses i know of with mmds aerials and by cutting the cable shorted out the aerials(if there is a n3 fix this leaves you without any cable connection or mmds aerial)its well worth checking out sites like afterdawn before buying new boxes or getting a new installation ,but as you say some people see the quick fix(and see nothing else).

although in all fairness unless you are interested in this stuff how would you know about afterdawn etc.we irish take people for their word too often having gotten involved here 2 years ago or so i have learned alot from you guys who have always offered real genuine help its just unfortunate there are alot of ass--les about willing to rob innocent folk,but i suppose thats life............

 

its easy to forget we were all new to this(and its easy to be caught out, if your not sure of the ins and outs)we should all maybe be more helpfull to newbies etc. as we were once in their shoes. after all no one has to answer a post, so why answer just to be smart(just say nothing if thats how you feel or offer help if you can) my mother allways said if you cant say anything nice dont say anything . but i will help allways if i can.

as he could be doing c/s on them .

and before anyone says it not done yet well just bcecause you don't have it don't mean it not done.

again all you need is the keys and im sure the big traders will already have them are they wll be looking for them.
and if he chargeing £100 a box maybe he already has them .???
