High Bitrate Files to 5.1 AAC?

#1 24 Jun 2011 @ 10:15
Hey guys,

I'm planning on making a short film and I have download some scores that were originally flacs which I then converted to aac. (using xACT)

The current bitrates for these files are really high (I'm talking in between 600 - 1000)

The problem is, I'd like them to be 5.1 surround sound files so, if I ever wanted to play them back on my surround system on my T.V, i would get the 5.1 experience if you know what I'm saying.

How could I convert these files to 5.1?

Thanks.

I think you can load them into Audacity then select Edit > Preferences > Import/Export > Use Custom Mix and export as a AC3 5.1 file.
I assume the files are named L,C,R,RS etc so you can match up the channels when exporting (L C R LS RS LFE).

How would this be done on a mac?

Don't have a MAC, so can't say it's the same.
