no thats not neccesary unless your like me and have used up all the space with in a short amount of time.

If you have 2 hard drives you can make the 2nd drive the one thats going to control your virtual memory but by changing this you will need to do a defrag straight after this. The end result wll be that your pc should be faster.

    Ok here we go

right click my computer and go down to properties:

now on the next screen click the advanced tab

Now we are getting there: after you choose the advanced tab the next screen is where the settings are.Click only the settings tab, nothing else please

Click on the tabin the middle, the advanced one and once you get the next window opening up go down to where it says virtual memory and click the change button

what are the stats that you see: the figures that are displayed before you. Here are mine

ok can you download snagit7 from the link below

    http://www.techsmith.com/products/snagit/default.asp?CMP=KAC-SGoogle

    this is a trial version.
Are you a member of a free web host site?
do you know how to upload a pic from your pc to the webhost site, then copy the properties of the file and paste them between the brackets so they can be seen here

if not i guess we will be doing a lot more together before we fix the virtual memory.

see where it says initial size: change that to 1024
see where it says maximum size: change that also to 1024

this will now fix if you get low memory messages.

You dont really need to do this as its for people who have more than one hard drive not one hard drive with 2 partitions.

oK next press the set button on the right hand side.RESTART your pc and the 1st thing you will need to do is do a defreag of your systemas you have just changed its properties and they wont take effect until after the re organising of the system

    you mean disk cleanup??????????

  15. andmerr

    andmerr Guest

no i mean disk defragmentation, might take about 3 hours to do.

    go to:

    start
    all programs
    accessories
    system tools
    disc defragmentation

let it run by itself it will be quicker that way.

Were you able to change the figures to what i specified

if you get rid of all the useless programs that people have at there start menu and kept it to a bare minimum

you may be able to get a more productive response with your computer via burning but you wont get very far with trying to multitask unless you up your pc to one that supports say 4 gig of ram, has hyper threading technology installed etc.I can as i have 1024 DDR PC400 ram installed withg a decent chipset.UMMM maybe look at a p4 3.2 gig with at least 512 DDR ram, if you are going to upgrade
