Can the movie files i rip with dvdfab decrypter be improved by using fixvts (or by using ripit2me instead of dvdfab) before throwing into dvdrb? the guides and tutorials available seem to indicate that fixvts is to be used when using shrink or other one-click transcoders. thank you very much!

I don't know much about fixvts and dvdrb pro. But I do know that DVDFab does not use compression. The DVDs are copied exactly as they are and there is no loss in quality with DVDFab.
    Hope this helps!

the files produce by FabDecrypter should be just fine to be used with RB. but, nothing clean the files better than ripit4me, i prefer it over any other decrypter or ripper.

Using RipIt4Me along with the old LUK!! DVD Decrypter and then FixVTS produces a very clean file for Rebuilder, this is what I use and have not had any problems. You can check out my sig for information/guide on RipIt4Me and FixVTS.

I also use RipIt4Me and works extremely well.

I have a question...Last night I backed up a movie with DVD RB Pro and when I went to burn the file from VIDEO_TS, Nero Burning Rom said "Cache too small. Not all files were cached." I don't know exactly what that means, but the burn was fine. It played great. The only problem I had was Nero Showtime would not play the VIDEO_TS on the pc. It said "Unexpected DVD Error". Have you ever encountered that before?

I have never had that particular error, although I have gotten an error on a few occasions with Nero and an RB file and it plays fine. I just chalk it up to Nero being picky, I like ImgBurn for RB files and with the new version I use that program often.

What I did, was converted the file to an ISO with ImgBurn, since it would not play with Nero Showtime. I use VLM for any ISO files I have that I want to play on the pc.

From now on, I will use ImgBurn. I had been doing that and I read that the Nero Burning rom was a better "burning engine", so I switched. I still like to store the files as VIDEO_TS whenever possible.

just stumbled on this old thread. I use DVDFab HD Decrypter for documentaries & episodic discs (full disc mode, no stealing from extras or any tweaking at all), then use DVDRB, 2 passes, video compression % is usually around 50%-ish.
After each disc is completed by DVDRB i then run the fileset thru vobblanker (as the first 2 or 3 DVDRB discs i ever did would moan in Nero). Now i use vobblanker as a final step (without checking if it's actually needed) prior to burning. The results, even at 50%-ish are outstanding, i'm glad i didn't waste my time going down the Dual Layer route, this program makes that redundant :)
Sometimes i get just the tiniest bit of blockiness on the odd scene, but nothing to worry about. My average encoding times are around 4/5 hours whether i'm using my P4 2.4 machine, or my AMD XP2800+, or my AMD Turion64 ML30, not too bad, the machines can just sit there chomping away overnight or whatever..

Same here now its "reopened" :)
Before Ripit4me (and before I bought DVDRB), I always used VOBblanker and the 5 minutes it took to run usually saved 10-15 minutes using Nero Recode since the files were sorted nice it seemed. Now I mostly use Ripit in wizard mode and it seems quicker in getting the files totally ready for DVD-RB or whatever encoding/burning preferences.

hmmm... thats interesting, never thought about running VOBBlanker after DVD-RB, i always run VobBlanker before using DVD-RB, have never had a problem burning the DVD-RB output folder.

i've no idea why it's needed, 'fraid it exceeds my 'need to know' limit :)

..what i am sure about is that any files output by DVDFab are fine, and something goes very slightly awry after the DVDRB stage. Not a problem as vobblanker sorts it out. I'll only bother looking deeper into it if movies start going wrong..

Nice points. I too have noticed certain instances of Nero errors after DVD-RB but since it didnt affect the disc, I thought of it as another Nero bug that would be fixed after another of many updates.

It's like Nero's "DVD compliancy" rules are a bit more strict than other programs, but, like the others, even though Nero complained, the burn still comes out fine...

Can some one help me out... I downloaded DVDFab and the VobBlanker. Is there a guide out there that tells me how to successfully burn a copy of my movie? I used Ripit4me until today when I realized they were gone.
    Thanks a ton!!

@mossymo---Why not still use it? Did you delete it from your system for some reason? Anyway you wont find much help from people when you hijack someones thread with a different topic.
    I'm a nice guy though

Sorry all! I am new, I was thinking since the topic was about dvdfab decrypter I could ask here. Sorry again. Thanks for the heads up and I will post my own new topic. I do still have the program just didn't know if it was "safe" to still use.
