Are there torrents yet of HD-DVD backups? Of course when you own the original DVD. If not, Blu-Ray?

Well; according to the news article a little while ago; there's supposedly somebody that has a software out that can backup HD-DVD Discs [no specifics on blu-ray though; not sure...]; although I doubt that anyone has got any out as torrents [yet].

....Currently; I'm pretty sure all that's out there right now for HD rips is stuff that was captured off of television. [i.e. captured off of HD broadcast channels]

There has been HD Warez for a long time now. I cant comment on torrents, becasue i dont use them. But many of my sources (Ie Usenet, and private ftps) have many HD rips. Note that Most of the HD rips are from PVRs, so there not Hd-DVD copies. But since HD-DVD security has been compromised, you can expect to see them soon. Sofar i have not seen a true HD-DVD for DL. And 15GB is alot, but if you have good access (No torrents) you can DL this in 2-3 hours.

@Bigperm88: What do you use for playback of h.264 encoded HD *.ts files?

I can't speak for Bigperm88, but I use CoreAVC (legally purchased) with Media Player Classic. Flawless playback (no stutter) of 1080p/i H.264 .ts @ 20 MBit/Sec average with MBAFF interlacing on my X2 4600. Just thought I'd butt in :p

    wow. 19+ Gigs. 201 files x 103mb. Uploaded in 10 hours @ 599 KB/s

Sry for the late reply, been to busy to check forums. I use CoreAVC as well (I think, gotta double check when i get home) with VLC player. And i also experience great playback, with no shutters on a P4 3.4

AFAIK vlc uses it's own decoders, so if you have CoreAVC installed then it won't be being used.

    alt.binaries.hdtv and alt.binaries.hdtv.repost
    assuming that's what your asking!

EDIT: Slightly O/T, but 'Serenity', 'Pitch Black', 'Superman Returns', 'Equilibrium', 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang', 'Huo Yuan Jia' and 'Miami Vice' HD-DVD rips have been posted to abhdtv so far. Also 'The Mummy', 'Mission Impossible 3' and 'Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut' are being posted as we speak. Didn't take long did it!

I would say that most people use PowerDVD and their graphics card to output directly to their TV. This is from one of the nfo's that came with a HD-DVD rip:
BTW, all computer monitors are HD, that is, higher than 480/576p. That's what makes them different from TVs.
