There's this BS in Hong Kong going about that need 'bootable discs' when you buy copy xbox 360 games

apparently, put game in first and you get the xbox logo

you have to put in the disc first until a 'please insert xbox 360 dvd' pops out

then you put the video game and all is well.

can anyone confirm this? and a link to it if already said

The latest firmware revision for Lite-On to be released was 1.6, which supports games up to wave 3. Many new games are wave 4. In order to play wave 4 games on a Lite-On, you need that activate disc.

If you have a different type of drive you can use 1.61 firmware instead.

I know that already. I modded it 1.61 and can play the new stuff. I told this to the guy selling (in cantonese which was very difficult) and he still thinks I need the CD?

I need to find out what software I need to transfer memory from one harddrive to another. (A link to a download would be great! :) )

I have two softmodded xbox classics. They both use the unleashx dashboard.

For sanity I'll refer to them as BrokenBox and WorkingBox. I have many properly burned xbox games. They all used to work on both BrokenBox and WorkingBox. I have many dvds, retail, burned, and video files on data discs. They all used to work on both as well.

Recently BrokenBox says "Unknown" in the tray when I insert one of these burned games, or one of the non retail dvds. WorkingBox loads the same disc everytime.

BrokenBox will load retail games, I've tried all 17 I own.

BrokenBox will not load non retail DVDs in either DongleFreePlayer, or XBMC.
    ---
    I restored BrokenBox to retail.

    I restored WorkingBox to retail.

I remodded both boxes with softmod and then installed the UnleashX dash.

Symptoms remain as above. What is going on with BrokenBox? I cant figure it out.

Sounds like your dvd pot needs to be adjusted on the laser of the dvd drive. Just for the hell of it switch the dvd drives and try it again. If it loads then you know it's the laser of the one that's not working.

Pick up a new dvd drive off ebay. They are very cheap and the original ones go out fast imo, so it's good to have a few laying around. I have several parts for just in case moments, being that parts are so cheap now.

    Greetings,

I've recently decided to mod my old Xbox (duh) and would like to use my PsP as my primary means of transfering the files to my Xbox HDD. I've went through all the motions, reformatted my 2 gig card via psp settings, copied the xxxx and yyyy's to the appropriate driver .inf, installed using the device manager but my Action Replay keeps throwing errors!

Everytime I click Action Replay.exe I get an error report message saying the program must close down! I made my own usb connection that works fine (plugged in, normal error, erase of data then recognized by xbox as a memory card). but my action replay software on my PC just won't work.

I WAS running this all on Win 7 but I've researched to find AR isnt compatable with 7 so I used my XP computer and still the same blinking AR logo and the error report... I'm getting frustraited but far from ready to give up.

I don't have any other usb devices except a digital camera with a SD card input that totally won't work so I'd REALLY like to figure this psp thing out.

    --Error Signature-- AppName: maxdrive.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.1 ModName: maxdrive.exe ModVer 1.0.0.1 Offset: 00019ecf

I used Maxdrive in this instance but I get the exact same results with Action Replay including the updated versions. If someone has any idea of what I missed PLEASE help me out!

I have everything ready to go I just need AR or MD to not crash! Why does my Xbox read the psp fine yet my PC software won't? It's connected and usbview.exe and device manager tell me the drivers are installed and the device is plugged in AND working... what am I missing???

hi guys, im new here, i wanted to know what a solid orange light on my xbox means b/c it still runs games fine and xbmc fine.looking online,it said i had a soldering problem, but i didnt open my xbox so i dont think that the problem. It doesnt overheat because its pretty much in the middle of the room on top of a rack so there is no blockage of airflow..all the cables are fine, can someone tell me how to fix this problem or if its dangerous or if i can live with it..Thanks in advance

suijin - sounds to me like it's simply the setting for the Front LED that needs changing (i prefer green myself) ~

Plus i have all my xboxes set to 10% Fan speed, i can't stand the noise the things make and they seem to run cool enough this way (plus i'm not interesting in swapping out fans for quieter ones personally). I also set the shutdown idle timeout to 30 minutes, always useful if you fall asleep watching a movie.

    Hello,
I'm no specialist, but if your Xbox is still functioning properly and you haven't noticed any hiccups or performance problems, then in my opinion the most likely answer is that somehow the setting for the Power LED has been changed. See, in the XBMC settings area, there is a setting to change the color of the power ring. It has 4 or 5 different colors it can change to (I have mine set on red), or you can set it to continually actively change colors while the power is on. Based on the fact that everything is working normally, I would say that the LED setting is the most probable reason for your light being orange.
