JT45! You're Halfway Home, in case you haven't realized it yet!

That's A-OK. You FOUND your files. You DID rip your DVD successfully, AND you HAVE found the folder!

(And don't worry about comments here like "Dumb as A Hammer" - everyone's an "expert", and I never use ISO files. (Even though I know you don't know what an ISO file is)...... moving on ....

STEP 2: (There's only one more step after this, so hang in there)...

You need to compress the files in your "My Documents" folder *down* to a size that you can fit onto a standard blank DVD.

And yes, you're right... inside your folder, DVDFab created *another* folder \FullDisc\DiscTitle'sName\VIDEO_TS\...<bunch of juicy disc files>. DON'T worry about all of that stuff for now!

The program DVDShrink is gonna do that for you, just *nicely*!

I think you said you have installed DVDShrink? Please run that program now.

JT - I hate to say this..... but I gotta run off again. I'm almost late for work. (Worked 12 hours yesterday and I have another straight 12 to go looking me straight in the face). TOMORROW, I will show you how to make a few necessary settings in DVDShrink - so that you can use it to compress your files properly. (I really am running late.) :-( -- Sorry I didn't catch this sooner.

    * I Shall Return ! *

Yo, trippie! -- I haven't been 'on' here much except for recently. Too darn busy. Home life. Work life. Day shifts/night shifts - 8-hrs/12/hrs/16hrs. Haven't got a clue where Darthnip is, or what he's doing. (Can't even remember what *I* did yesterday!) :)

(No need for the .log file, trippy).

DVDFab will copy most discs, most of the time. It's constantly being upgraded, tweaked and perfected to counter the never-ending, ongoing attempts by disc makers to sabotage ripping softwares (like DVDFab), with their various, new "copy protection" schemes, of which I imagine they drum-up new versions of every other week or so.

It's an ongoing struggle. Neck-&-Neck. If you can't copy a given disc *today* with DVDFab, the odds are that you *will* be able to copy it, say, a month from now after an upgrade-or-two from the authors. I have often found this to be the case.

DVDFab is simply awesome. I usually find that if DVDFab can't handle any particular disc, chances are that, say, CloneDVD or another program, can't handle it either.

I've never tried to rip an *unprotected* DVD with DVDFab or any other ripper, trippy. Why would you wanna do that? (It usually works the other way around - you use these programs to rip *protected* discs).

Just dump your unprotected DVD-R's files (all of them, in the video_ts folder) into a <NewFolder>. Then burn the newfolder with Nero or somethin'. Works like a charm. No ripping software necessary. Great way to make additional copies.

Hi JT! Gotta question for you....

Are you a Dude or a Dude-ess? (Guy or Gal). Hope you don't mind my asking, (I'm just curious.)

OK...... have you downloaded DVDShrink yet? Do you have it installed?

Let me know!!! You have to make a few settings in DVDShrink to make it do your bidding.

well i got these discs that the original MKV files were lost, so i just wanted to rip them and keep it backed up as usually! for what ever the reason DVDFAB wasn't copying them it did today, i think the issue was with my temp files, there is a limit on them and DVDFAB might have botched up something and.....oh well i got my back up

ya ya know darknip, and what was his name....prateron? pratecourt? well there was some mod that hasn't posted in years!!! and i still run into his shadow every now and then! what can I say kilngon your generation has been replaced by loco and such...well except for dRD...i dont think he'll ever die!

(Hmmmmm.....) well, I actually don't know what an 'MKV' file is.

If you have a DVD-R (or just a DVD in general), you *should have .VOB, .BUP, and .IFO files.)

(Sniff, sniff.....[dabbing eyes], you mean...... you mean.... [sob!] .... I is all washed up now?) A throwaway? A used Hankie? An old sock with one too many holes?) [sob!!!!] :-[

Geeze, trippy, I wouldn't shuffle me out to pasture just yet. I still got a *few* sparks left in me! :p

Thanks again, Creaky. (In truth, I *do* sense it's gonna be another while before JT gets his 1st, correctly- burned disc. I just consider this a 'Project-In-Progress'). :)

JT, I'll be off for 3 days after tonight's shift. (I see many beers in my near future! <hic!>) :) -- In the meantime, get & install DVDShrink. Rememember, I already told you that you *have* the necessary files ripped into your "My Documents" folder. DON'T rip anything else for now! These files take up a lot of space, and I think you said you only have a 145 Gig hard disc (or something like that).

"My Documents" is the default folder that DVDFab uses if you don't specify another place. From this, I know you aren't sure how to _make_ a new folder, but that's 'ok'. We'll just use 'My Documents' which will be fine.

If I don't get too sloshed first, <hic!>, we'll see how you do over the next three days.

    [From tripplite]....

OH! Trippy! I am so dissapointed in you! (And you're a SENIOR member?) I don't know who's more the 'Newbie' here - you or JT! <gg>

You should know that DVDFab doesn't "rip" MKV or AVI files! (And you were wondering why it wouldn't work with your DVD-rs????)

You would need a program called 'MKVFabDecrypter' or 'AVIFabDecrypter' for something like that!

(See?) - You still need old buggers like me (without a profile) to point these things out to you! :)

You bet. Hang in there JT - you're doing A-OK for now.

And I'm *glad* you deleted all the old, unnecessary stuff. In fact, after you get your first perfectly-functioning DVD created, it's important to erase all the files you used to create it, to make room for the Next disc you make after that. (In other words, clear out your My Documents folder to make room for the next one).

Heading out to work now (yet again). **Sigh! - There is no god.....Arrrgghhhh !!!! :)

JT - NO ONE is laughing!

DVDShrink IS free! There ARE sites out there who try to charge you for it, but they are all SCAMMERS - avoid them.

Get DVDShrink *right here* in Afterdawn's software section! (Go to 'software' now.)

    Gotta run! Late 4 work!
