I don't think a board will post without a CPU in it. Just sell it as 'untested'.

    Mort81,
It's been a very long time since I set up DVDRB/CCE, but I could swear I could select how many cores and how much percentage of the CPU I wanted to use. I do remember setting it at 77%. I could be wrong as it's been probably a year and a half or more since I set mine up and did any fine tuning with it. I've installed it since but just the basic two pass for Russell on the AMD. Like I said I really don't remember for sure, but maybe it was something when I installed DVDRB. I just remember the 77%!

    Best Regards,
    Russ

no it won't. that is accurate.

    im,

lets see those benchy's. I'm just curious as to how my Q9450 compares to a Q9700 at the same clock speed.

CCE is uses exactly two cores and no more. HC encoder is not restricted by two cores if one uses RB multiprocessor function. CCE is faster pound per pound but the ability to run a processor on 4 cores wins.

For those who've seen all four of their cores working with CCE, it is not a benefit because it means that each single thread must be swapped out to other cores. It's a linear encode so there is no way that any single thread can be divided out into parts to speed things up. It's a single thread headed in one direction from start to finish and if that thread has to cross other halls to get there then it has also taken a longer path.

    Im

Even a dead CPU might (sometimes) allow it to post and no more, but having no CPU is like trying to turn it on without plugging it in.

he flashed the bios and messed it up(only a month after he bought it - back in 2006)....now only if I had a CPU....
The motherboard looks brand new cause it was only in use for a little more than a month...
I am really good at recovering BIOS mess up's but if it won't post how will I do it!?!?!
anyone ever request a new BIOS chip from ASUS?
The motherboard has 4 DDR1 slots

    UPDATE

    Hi,
I just hot flashed the BIOS chip on the motherboard and now it should work. I did this by changing the BIOS chip while the computer (with a different motherboard) was on and switching the BIOS chip....then I flashed the corrupted BIOS chip and it showed as successful. I still can't POST the motherboard as I don't have a CPU.

DDP, if you want to buy it from me drop me a PM and a reasonable price but I can't guarantee that it works, although I am pretty sure that it does.

LOL, I was sooo happy that the flash was successful that I almost cried!

    im1992 & Mort81,
A word to the wise! Don't install Firefox 3! Look for Firefox 2. 3 is full of all sorts of glitches at the moment!

    Best Regards,
    Russ
