Lenovo's first Windows 8 tablet to cost $799 with keyboard

Lenovo's first Windows 8 tablet, the ThinkPad Tablet 2, will sell for $799 with bundled keyboard dock, says the company.
The tablet has a 10-inch display with 1366x768 resolution and should last 10 hours per charge.

Along with the tablet and keyboard comes a full version of the Office 2013 productivity suite, and the tablet has a full USB port for additional productivity options.

Lenovo says the ThinkPad 2 is aimed at enterprise consumers, while Windows RT-based tablets will sell in the $300-$600 range.

Good luck with that.

I would demand better specs than that out of the "budget" version! Looks like android has very little to worry about at least from this article.

Premium prices for aged spec's. I don't think this is gonna fly. Are Microsoft killing their Tablet OS before they start. Delivery after all other manufacturers have released in 2012 and not allowing partners to release because "they are making changes".

Lenovo are targeting the iPad market here with only the slow selling Windows Phone 7 (although it is a good OS) to back it up.

Google have it spot on with the Nexus 7, get people used to the platform on a tablet with a price that appeals to a mass market, this is where GOogle knows its market well. Get them hooked on the cheap stuff (loss leaders that is, not cheap crap) then follow up with solid hardware and better (albeit I still maintain messy) OS.

Lets hope the Surface is priced more suitably, it looks like a very nice tablet.

So.......it seems the tech manufacturers are trying to corner off the tablet market in THEIR favour by pricing in the 700 range. "WOULD" be a smart idea if Apple was doing the same and not such high quality hardware for the 450-500 price.

Agreed. At least have a display that matches the 8.9" Kindle Fire HD or Infinity Transformer if you're going at that price, Keyboard is a perk however, but it's going to woo some of their customers into buying one, thing again..
