    Hi,

I got the below error message upon booting and unfortunately I don't have a repair disk handy or the original Windows XP professional disc to perform a repair.

Could anyone advise me on how to proceed on solving this problem? I'd greatly appreciate any advice

Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

    Thanks

    Ezy

Kinda hard to run any programs if you can't boot the OS...

Can you get Safe Mode to boot?
You may not be able to since that missing or corrupt file is a rather IMPORTANT one, it contains all the system profile info.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, unfortunately that OS will not be able to boot without a repair install or a complete reinstall, which you'll need the install disk to do either.
