i am having problems making a duplicate copy of a movie,or any movie in fact using nero express,the same goes for alcohol 120%. i have already ripped the movie onto a blank,but cant seem to copy a copy? message error..not enough space on disc. i am using fat32,but that doesnt matter as i am not using hardrive space. i know it is better to copy from the hardrive to reduce the chance of errors,but that doesnt get me away from the fact that i cannot copy on the fly? any help is appreciated. wuth kind regards hursty.
I use the disc copy on nero express to make extra copies without going through dvd shrink again. I however place my original backup on High quality verbatim mcc03 discs. The lower grade of media gives me trouble trying to copy them again.

hursty, have you ever been able to do on the fly? If no, your problem could be because your running FAT32 and it has the 4GB limitations. Have you tried DVD Decrypter to backup you copy? Just rip in ISO mode. The new DVD Decrytper will give you 2 ISO files to work with FAT32. Then I believe when you burn, the mds file will combine the two.
As long as the instructions are followed closely, there is no problem with flashing the firmware. I did the BIOS on my MOBO and my DVD ROM (Samsung) and the DVD Burner (Memorex). I've also flashed the BIOS on my son's PC. If done improperly it can do damage. But, one has to work at doing it wrong. Just don't do it during an electrical storm. You should check your computer support for all pertinent downloads for your system and with the companies that sold the drives. I know there have been some firmware upgrades for some of the Pioneers. By the way, you said sony. [bold]What is the speed and is it + or - and what is the manufacturer code?[/bold] DVDInfoPro and DVD Identifier both (freeware) will read manufacturer codes. DVD Identifier only reads codes and is the simplest. I use the DVDInfoPro because it does a lot of tests.

cheers for that,sorry about multiposting, i am using fat32,but i am on the understanding that copying disc to disc does not use hardrive, i have used decrypter many times to rip movies,and games. but i dont want to rip it to the hardrive,i just want to copy the disc.dvd to dvd.straight
You are possibly causing problems for yourself with the FAT32 System. This looks like an older system from the looks of things. You may be looking at a number of problems. The BIOS as well as the firmware may need upgrading. If it were me, I would upgrade to XP and the NTFS. DVD Recording was developed using the newer NTFS and wasn't meant for the FAT32 systems. I didn't see the specs on your machine, if you gave them refer me to the data. If not, what is the brand and model, the CPU and speed, how large is your hard drive and how much free space do you have, the front side bus speed if you know it and how much RAM do you have? What is the operating System? And As I asked earlier what is the manufacturer code of the media and what is the speed and is it plus or minus?

Sneak up slowly with a 20 pound sledge and before it knows what happened, put it out of your misery. Just joking. The way I flashed my Samsung ROM was with a floppy. You create the floppy from a download. Since mine had to be run in true DOS, I had to reboot with the floppy in A: Once the drive was flashed, I removed the floppy and rebooted the computer back into windows. How about the Pioneer, did you check the firmware on it. I saw some on the net for your model. Not sure if it was OEM or a hack. I was skimming and didn't pay close attention. BTW, I don't see how you're doing any recording with only 4.5GB free, unless it's small movies. Recode or Shrink store the temp and you need some space for the system to operate, so, you're really pushing the envelope.
yeah its right on the edge,i am gonna give up trying,wait till my computer wiz kid mate comes around and sorts it out for me,why should i be updating the firmware on the pioneer?its brand new,shouldnt it be up-to-date? to be honest,as you can see from the trouble i have been having,i dont know too much about the ins and outs of pc's,i have been copying ps2 games for a while,but thats about it. what i know about pc's is what i have picked up from this site in the last 2 month's,its been a very steep learning curve. getting back to my problem i can add the info that my pioneer/samsung are both running in the same ide port,until i get a new cable,thats how its got to stay. like you say though.i think the root of the problem is the age of the pc.and until i get a upgrade,i will encounter such posers as this. like i said before,i cant update firmware.i have no floppy disc. thanks for your help with kind regards hursty
Not all computers have floppys now. In that case one sets the system to boot from a DVD drive. Then you make a CD or DVD file and flash from that. Same process, different media. I'd wait until I got the newer PC if I were you. One thing I have noticed is that the your model burner has had problems with media due to the firmware. You can go ahead and do the flash or save the link for later. I'd wait. You're beating the odds with the PC you have, so don't be too upset with workarounds. You're actually lucky to be using it for recording DVD movies. It falls right at or under most minimum software requirements. Good luck and hope you get your new PC soon.
Run a net search with Pioneer Firmware as the subject and you'll find a lot of what I was referring to. Would have got back sooner, but can't be here all the time.
