    The error could be due to your burner not supporting the particular media you are attempting to burn. See if there is a firmware upgrade for your burner. What make and model number burner do you have?

    What did not work--the firmware upgrade, the burn?

    What software are you using? Use DVD Identifier or DVDInfoPro to determine the manufacturer's media code for the media you are using. At what speed are you attempting to burn, 2X or higher? Imation media is not quality media. It's manufacturer is probably CMC Mag which is not great but should still work. Purchase some RW media to avoid making coasters until this gets sorted out.

    @zanec - let's try something -

    download Nero info-tool from here - http://www.snapfiles.com/get/neroinfo.html

    Run it, note down the following, and paste here. Here's what mine shows -

    click on the drive tab, note down the firmware version

    click on configuration tab, note down the DMA fields, ie on or off

    it may be worth clicking on the aspi tab, and note down anything that might be missing

    then download dvdinfopro, do a media info check,and paste the results here
