Ok, so I updated my firmware for my DVD burner and I updated Nero. I also cleaned in-cd off of my machine. After that I burnt a dvd with no problems. Then when I went to burn a new project I had issues again. I got to the point where it asked for my media, I bought some new roms that were a lot better quality, and it told me that the burn process failed. Ok, so I tried to burn the same project again and it failed again. The third try it went, wh? Here is another newbie question. I did a speed test and my burner writes at 2X. Ok, so my dvd roms are 4x and 8x. When I burn I need to set my burn speed to 2x right? I did the speed test and it set my speed to 2x so shouldn't nero reconize that when I try to burn? I appreciate the help. I'm new at this and at this point I have a lot to learn. I greatly appreciate any help.

    Thanks.

Just curious, but what brand of blanks are you using? And do you have DMA enabled?

Ok, a stupid question but what is DMA? I'm using two types. The only name I'm sure of, I'm at work and not at home, is Imation. Thanks for any help.

    Direct Memory Access.

    Here is a guide:http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/dvdguide005.html

Also Imation is not held in high favor on this site. Try some Maxell, Sony, or Fuji (Made in Japan) or Ritek, Verbatim, or Taiyo Yuden.

Imation - not all of them are much good, see here (sorry it's a bit lengthy) - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/232406

Most of that's about Memorex but as you'll see in that war and peace, the same difference applies to Imation. They do use some decent manufacturers' discs but you're not gonna know if you've got good or bad ones just by picking them up..

Current Verbatim discs are excellent, i use many of them myself.

if you like, let's see exactly which Imation you have there, download dvd identifier (free) - http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_identifier.cfm and use it to 'identify' one of those discs, pasting the results here.

ps sorry for being moany about the threads, as i say it's only to help...
