    Your DMA is off here is how you can turn it on:

    http://www.burstcopy.com/dma/xp/

    Memery insuffecient, 512 is recommended, doesn't look like you are multi-tasking though.

    I've never even heard of the brand you are using. But I'm willing to bet that it's not good. DVD media is one of the few things in life where the brand name things really are better. I recommend you use either Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. Sony and Fuji are fine so long as they are made in Japan.

    wow, you are burning to close to the edge of your disc, set target size in your program to 4300 or 4350

    just like in the above post quality media is a must, good choices are verbatim, taiyo yuden, sony

    peace

    @Bigfatboy

    Wow, thank you. I can't believe I missed those. So plain right in front of me.

    @dvdfreak1

    I'm assuming this is a 1:1 ratio, unecrypted copy you are doing. If not then stop burning on fly. And if it IS a 1:1 ratio, unencrypted copy then slow down to 2x.

    hi, i stumbled in the unanswered thread a few minutes ago - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/268858. now i've found this one, i've copied my reply from that one to this one and closed it.

    - firmware's up to date

    - DMA needs to be ON, fix via this - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm

    - 512MB is what i consider the minimum for dvd work. you should get more memory, and for now you're gonna have to dig deep to close down as much as you can to free up more memory

    - get decent media

    - 4482MB is burning too close to outer edge of discs. If you use DVD Shrink, set target size to 4300MB in Shrink's preferences thus avoiding outer edge and not sacrificing much space

    - erm, what on earth blank discs are those!!??!!, get decent media

    - get decent media

    @creaky,

    I’m new at reading these logs but, I’m trying. I saw everything you guys reported but I have a question about the DMA.
    Is it really necessary to have the DMA set on a DVD-ROM, read only drive?

    I say why not have it on, it can only help. Also many people ,inclucing myself, use the ROM as a read drive to back it up with. So if you are using that then it's even more important. I have to say that I get faster Shrink times with a DVD ROM/DVD burner combo than I do with just my burner.

    I recently started having similar problems burning DVD's using a Sony DRX 510UL after burning for successfully for many months. I updated AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 but still did not correct the problem. I can copy to HD ok but when trying to write to DVD in CloneDVD2 I get the error "WriteDVD 10 11 W2" error and if using Nero the get the "Wnaspi32.dll" error. When using DVDFab Decrypter or Gold, they just lock up.
    Any suggestions?

    DVDFAB doesn't have a burn engine. I don't know about CloneDVD though because I don't use it. Why don't you post a Nero log like DVDfreak1 did.

    I will just need one section, preferalbly the latest one, and the sections are divided by this thing:

    ====== *** NeroAPI, History File *** ======

    Just remember to edit out your serial number at teh top that usually starts with 1A2

    Log is located under Programfiles\Ahead\Nero\Nerohistory.

    Thanks for the info, I didn't know where it was located! I do not us Nero that often.
    Here is the latest. I have just tried the DMA fix for Windows XP per one of links but when I reboot the current tranfer mode still shows as "Not Applicable" but the transfer mode is "DMA if Available"

    YOur Nero is ancient, current of 6.6.0.18.

    I think your drive is external so I don't think you got a prob. If not then respond and I'll help you then.

    Fix your DMA, they're off. Here's how:

    http://www.burstcopy.com/dma/xp/

    You writing too close to the edge, write no further than 4300MB.

    hi Rotary, yup, the DMA fix will sort that out.

    @2oldGeek - yup, if DMA isn't on the other drives will run at the lowest speed

    Thanks for the responses.
    Sony DVD drive is external, using USB 2.0
    As I said on the DMA, I followed those instructions but the current transfer mode on the advanced settings tab shows as "Not Applicable" and the transfer mode shows as "DMA if available".
    I am using a Promise Ultra133 TX2 IDE controller and updated the driver for that last night.
    Frustrating part is that everything was working as is until about a week ago. I think the first DVD that didn't burn correctly was Stealth or Mr Mrs Smith. I updated AnyDVD & CloneDVD2 thinking it was new copy protection but I have not been able to burn a succesful DVD since then. The movies all rip to the HD fine with CloneDVD2 and are compressed to about 4.36 GB
    I will update Nero and try again.
