downloaded NERO 7 Ultra and also the LAME MP3 encoder. I received serial numbers for both. Nero 7 will not accept the LAME MP3 serial number. It comes back with a message saying the serial mnumber is a Nero number but not valid for this application. E-mai lsaid I was to record the serial number under the NERO Product Center. Any ideaas where I went wrong? Any information will be appreciated
Good luck with this error, because I had the same problem. I did finally get an email from Nero on it asking me to send them my error screen, however in my frustration over this I finally ended up reformating and going back to Nero 6.6.0.18. I put in Nero 7 and then proceeded to try and put in the lame SN, and got the same message. I then cleaned out 7 and put the old version of Nero 6 back in and then put in the new SN lame number from 7 which worked. I then put in Nero 7 and it put in the SN number from 6 and the mp3 enc worked fine. But, it would not recognize my DVD-Rom drive. It would recognize my burners but not this drive. I then just gave up and said forget it. Send your problem to Nero, maybe if enough people are having the problem they will fix it.
OH Boy! Was afraid something like this was happening. Ok I'll see if I can find my Nero 6 and start over! Thanks for the reply.
Just another Nero 7 bug, maybe someday when they get this fixed correctly I will put mine back in. Hate to think I wasted my money on it. Hope it all works for you
I had the same thing happen to me when I got a seriel for nero 7. I would install Nero and let it install all the way then try to enter the seriel number after it was installed on my computer. It would give me the error saying this is a nero seriel but not valid for this version. I then uninstalled it and reinstalled it and when it asked to eneter the seriel during install I put in the seriel at that time and it installed and worked perfect. I have never used the LAME MP3 encoder. Does this ask for the seriel when you install it? if so are you putting in the seriel at that time or installing it and then adding it after it is installed? Just a sugestion for you to try. it worked for me.
The lame SN is a seperate SN from your Nero program SN. You enter it after you install Nero. I never had a problem with my 6, but with 7 this is what you get "Although this is a valid Nero SN, it is not valid for this process".
Nero loaded and worked find. However when I went to save a wma file as an MP3 I had to register for a LAME serial number. They sent me one, I entered and got the error message. I then off loaded EVERYTHING and re-installed Version 6.6 OEM, checked for up dates did all them, checked for Upgrade. It referred me to exactly what it did the night before. Same web page and same offer. I then tried to load the new version 7 and computer went into la la land. Starts the extraction portion but never goes to the install!! AGGH. I guess there is no chance of them ever responding? Looks like it is time to call credit card and dispute the purchase!
H_KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ahead\INSTALLATION\FAMILIES\NERO7\INFO Right click on info folder....select (New > String Value) Right click on New String and rename to Serial7 After changing string name, you now must modify the string (Right click and select Modify) Type in your Lame MP3 serial number and click OK Should be good to go....! I assume you know where to find the first line above in the regedit....if not shout.
Here is my original thread on this problem, and someone posted their Nero email response to this error message which is the same as CBRETON posted http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/316325#1903488 You would think Nero could get it right without having to go through all the fuss of going into regedit.
I have no idea what I did! I went to your post and saw the regedit suggestion. I swear I did the same steps and did a clean load to try the regedit fix and lo and behold everything was there after the Nero 7 install was finished. Thanks everyone for all the info
cbrenton... Thanks much for the regedit trick for the Lame MP3 saving. It worked perfectly... without even rebooting.
I got PO'ed with Nero and decided to download CDex ... what an excellent program with the LAME encoder ...
