Hi there, My CD burner will only burn at 4x then i cannot read the CD's. It will read CD's that are official ones - from manufacturers, but not ones that are done at home. Has anyone had this problem - it could be something to do with windows service pack, or maybe the lens is old... Cheers, Ash
If your burner has a speed cap of 4x then it is safe to say that it is fairly old.... the older discs sometimes have issues reading and accepting the modern media formats. It seems that your burner does not recognize anything path the "Multispeed" specification (which is capped at 4x)... that specification is several generations old. You might be able to read "modern" 650MB discs... its worth a shot but if you really want to be able to use modern media, you will most likely have to upgrade the drive
The Matshita UJDA720 is a (8X/8X/24X/8X)CdWriter Did you try to upgrade the firmware on that burner ?? Go to this Url: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?category=15&manufactor=18 you will find the firmware 103 for it-- Next i also suggest that you upgrade the drivers in Windows XP to the latest. by visiting this link: http://www.windowsxp-drivers.com/drivers/82/82401.htm This should solve your problems ! _X_X_X_X_X_[small]Do It Right , and you will be a Happy Camper ! Thanks very much, it looks like good advice - though the second driver you recommended does not seem to exist on the link you sent...any other recommendations. Again, thank you very much for your help. Cheers, Ash
The link for the drivers does work -- try again -- and you'll see Location:This file is located on DriverGuide.com File: abrowser.exe (free registration required) You register it's free -- and you have access to the driver you need ! _X_X_X_X_X_[small]Do It Right , and you will be a Happy Camper !
