Have you tried letting Nero burn on auto. ie when using shrink select your burner as your target destination, and letting Nero automatically burn?

Also I could never get Nero to burn right, so I used Nero Express to burn my video_ts files.

To burn automatically with Nero. Open shrink, click edit then preferences, under File I/O tab check the box to Enable burning with Nero. Then when you click "backup!", change the target destination to your burner, then click ok.

Also if you wanna try Nero Express this is how I do it
    1) Open Nero Express and choose DVD-Video Files
    2) Double click the video_ts folder, then on the right click add.
    3) Now browse for the video_ts file you wanna burn. Add all of the files in that folder, then click finished. (I don't add any files from the audio_ts folder ... because there are none.)
    4) Click next, Name your disc, and burn away.

Could be a few things. ASPI update or just a setting in Nero, etc...

Next error, could you post your error log? Also what are your pc specs?

Mrecio, you should get a DVD+/-RW, you won't feel so bad about things. No coasters that way. Experiment ad lib.

Saphire, you are definitely going to have to be more specific about your problems if you expect a meaningful answer.

I too cannot burn DVD's with Nero 6 Express, version 6.1.3.17. I am using KHypermedia blanks DVD+R. Get's right to the point of burning, then after a while it says "Burn process failed at 4X" Could not perform start of Disc at once. DVDRW IDE 1008. Burn process failed.

Emachines T1100, XP Home, SP1, 256 RAM, Microadvantage 8DVDRW drive.

If you are going to use RW, then you need to format them before burning with Nero. This is a MUST. I tried burning unformatted dvd+rw's and i got the illegal disc error. the best free format utility (in my opinion) is DVDINFOPRO.

also, check to see you have the latest firmware on your drive. go to cdfreaks.com

Hardware like hard disks, and sound cards and even video cards don't need many if any firmware updates, but DVD RW drives NEED THEM. Why? new media are added and etc... hope i helped.

Couple more notes about my bad DVD attempt! I was trying to write a small data file. For some reason the DVD tray opened a couple of times during this process even though I had a DVD in it. Even during the recording process!!! I am sending the log file.

I have similar problems with nero. i use shrink to rip and resize. that works wonderfully. then if I let shrink burn it starts and gets anywhere from 12to50 percent done and just sits and sits and sits. it says it is still writing but it is not doing anything. I actually have to reboot to make the drive stop running (sony double layer burner). If i try to use nero to burn from nero itself, it works 9 times out of 10 if i let it burn at 2xs speed. If I try to burn at 4xs speed it locks up the same way. I am using memorex dvd-r 4x discs. While I have been succesful at this I feel like I am underutilizing my available speed. Any help would be greatly apprec.

    Whitley,

How about we check some things off?

    1) Is your burners firmware up to date?
    2) Is your ide settings set to DMA?
    3) Did you install InCD4?
    4) Have you installed an apsi layer?
    5) Have you tried different media?
    6) And, are you doing anything else on your pc while trying to burn?
