Everything I can find there is for 3.52 m33-4. I don't understand what I am doing wrong as I thought I could load a movie iso the same as a game iso.

Just because it's for an older version, it doesn't mean it doesn't work. Did you at least try???

i have a 3.40 OE-A PSP i use USB SSS to back up my umds to my computer.. i had an idea but didnt want to mess anything up so i thought id post it first: i lost my twisted metal head on game a while ago but luckily i backed it up..i kno i can just place it in the iso folder of my memory stick and play, but i only have a 1GB mem stick so i can fit onw\e game at a time soo... if i placed a different umd in my psp and loaded it using USB SSS could i rename the twisted metal game "UMD6990" and copy it straight to the UMD replacing the exsting game that was already on it? or would this just mess up my UMD?

Lol, you can't burn an existing image to an UMD.

Haha. That's brilliant. Be sweet if you could though dude. Your UMD drive is a reader not a burner so you can't make them. You'll just need to get a bigger memstick.

Great guide by the way, thanks! And thanks to Booster, he's obviously a legend.

What about if you used like a burner, instead of using the psp?

Are the discs read only?

PSP Firmware History:

Not possible:

There's no way Sony will sell "UMD" Dics, no way 3rd-Party companies will do so either because "UMD" Discs are copy-righted from "SONY".

The discs are all "Read-Only".

Well we all have different opinions. But I personally like "UMDGen" more than the other ones out there.

Here is a link to it:

For the compression level I always choose default.

As a general rule CSOs are smaller than ISOs as it has been compressed but works slower than a normal ISO. I wouldn't worry about DAXs as hardly anyone uses that format nowadays.

EDIT:

Please don't double-post. You've already made a post here, regarding the same topic.:

i apologize for the double pot, but was trying to get a variaty of input from different post to gauge how much the community prefers one program over another and if their are differences that affect the final product in conversion from the different programs.

question-
1- to use ciso so i can put more games on a memory stick . can i modify thr processor speed on the psp to make up the difference in lag time from the compressed program??

thx for any help

If you're running custom firmware,

Turn your "PSP" off completely.
Hold the "R-Trigger button", then turn your "PSP" on.
You should now see a menu called "Recovery Menu" -> in there highlight and enter the option called "CPU Speed" -> in there change the "Speed in UMD/ ISO" to 333.

Byt changing the "CPU" speed, you're making the "PSP" run faster than usual. It is now running as fast as a "PSP Slim" it also drains the "PSP" battery quicker.

1) Yes.
2) 333Mhz is the highest.
3) That question is invalid as there is no safest speed for a PSP.

LoL, you ask a lot of questions. You know with some other Seniors or Mods here they would have asked you to use the search bar and stop asking these questions as they have been answered already.

But seeing as you are a nice guy and you don't seem to be a spammer I'll continue answering your questions until you are satisfied.

1- There are 2 answers to that question:
||||Dax (Dark_AleX) is the creator of CFW and M33 CFW and also the creator of .dax files.
||||.dax files is also a file extension just like .csos and .isos they are used for psp games.
2- Yes.
3- No. cso is the only compressed extension out of the 3.

(Question 4 missing???)

5- Less compatible compared to csos and isos by a small fraction.

Hello,

I found this page while Googling a UMD ripper. Was just wanting a confirmation as to whether the tutorial on the first page of this thread still works? I have a Slim + Lite with 3.80 M33-5 and would like to rip my UMD games. The last custom firmware I had was 1.50 and a little application used to let me rip easily...this stuff seems complicated! One other question: am I at a disadvantage as a Mac user?

Many thanks.

My computer gives me that message.

EDIT: Do I still need to follow the first few steps in the first post in this thread, exactly:

1.) Download "USB Special System Storage":
HERE: http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/1008
2.) Extract it using "WinRAR". (Search on "Google" if you don't have this)
3.) Open the folder you extracted from "WinRAR". (USBSSS_100)
4.) Copy the folder "PSP" inside the folder "MS_ROOT" to the ROOT Folder of your PSP MEMORY STICK. (E.G. X) - (X as in the drive letter of your PSP) - (Just allow it to overwrite, it will only add extra files and folders)
5.) Exit from "USB Connection" but keep your USB Cable in..

?
