Hi, is there a simple process to take a movie and convert to an avi file, so it will fit on one (or two) cd-r(s)? Im not asking to make a vcd out of it, as the system I will be playing back on does not have a dvd player. Id like to just convert the movie to an avi file, dont need menus or anything if not possible... just wanna play the movie on a cd-rom drive in my laptop. Can anyone offer any help please?
TMPGEnc will do the conversion _X_X_X_X_X_[small] JMLS-166S/Plextor PX-708A/Plextor Premium My Movies! http://www.intervocative.com/dvdcollection.aspx/Rephaim Got Indie? http://cdbaby.com/[/small]
Mikey~ Did you find a tutorial? I know that last guy gave you some terrible information (there are people like that~!) If you did not find any info--try this: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd2divx.cfm Good luck--I am going to try it myself~!
Who needs guides if you know what you are doing like Nephilim does. You can follow that guide if you want but using TMPGEnc would be as easy. Open TMPGEnc. Close the Wizard. Select a VOB file as your Video source: Click File > Output to file > AVI file Select your Video and Audio codecs and their Settings. Click Save. This method will give you a separate AVI file for each VOB source. You could then join the AVI files with VirtualDub. Or you could use TMPGEnc and a similar method to make MPEG files. Then use the TMPGEnc MPEG Tools to merge the MPEG files. Then use that method to convert the merged MPEG to AVI.
Thank you very much Veblin & chnpoppi both options are nice.. Basiclly, both will work, but cause Im new at this, i just needed a little more detail.. Simply saying "use TMPGEnc" doesnt really give a lot of info.. NOW, i've got something to work with... Thanks for all the help!
