   Have a SVCD which is over 800mb in size, unfortunately I can't fit this on to a 700mb disc. Any ideas. Many thanks.

   answering the title, yes you can convert svcd to divx/xvid.
   i don't recommend it, svcd's quality is lower than dvd. so it might not be worth it.
   
   i think you can burn 800MB of mpeg into svcd format.
