Can you overburn DVD-R's?

I have an VIDEO_TS dir that is JUST over the 4.38 limit on DVD-R discs. I'm wondering if there is any program that will allow you to overburn the disc(?). IF so, would such a disc play in a settop?

I have not heard of any DVD overburning.
But if anyone out there knows different, nows the time to say so.

I have'nt heard of dvd over burning. Try using a new version of nero at least 5.5.9.0, its show's dvdr-rw avalible capasity at 4.489g. I have personaly burnt a dvdr 4.481g that works in my standalone jvc dvd player. best of luck!
