    Hello all,

I'm looking to purchase a mini digital camcorder preferably a JVC or Sony that has at least 16x optical zoom, external mic input and does not have a bottom loading tape mechinisim.

I'm looking to pay in the range of 500.00 to 600.00 if that helps.

I have not been able to find a camcorder with those specs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Steve

You're going to have some trouble finding a mini camcorder that has a 16x zoom.

Haven't actually purchased on yet either (soon I hope). I have 3 main needs. Zoom (better than 10x), decent low light and batery life. Low motor noise would be nice too :).

Does anybody know if the Sony IR feature any good? I realize its monochrome. I am thinking or using it to capture wildlife at night.
