I have been unable to get a complete dvd-r to burn. The sony can burn dvd+r no problem, but I need -r discs.

whenever I burn to disc (using newest version of dvddecrypter, nero,or alcohol) I get a write error (command sequence error). It seems to be the burner.

whenever I use the same disc image and make several attempts the errors occur in different points in the disc(Usually somewhere between 50% to 80%). This makes it seem that the image is correct.

I am using memorex dvd-r, but i also tried a cheepy(Digital Media) that the salesman threw in.

Any advice on what the problem might be.

here are 2 log files from dvddecrypter that might help....

    Try using TDK DVD-R or K-Hypermedia DVD-R
I have the exact same problem that you had.
I purchased some cheap generic DVD-R from cyberguys and all I got was toast. Then I tried Memorex with the same results.

    But TDK DVD-R47A works fine

Another problem I ran into was my drive defaulted to 4X and the media I first used was only rated for 1X.

It seems most of the brand name disks (except for Memorex) are now 2X.

Hope this works for you. PLEASE let me know what other brands of disks work for you.

I had similar problems with Ritek DVD-r and solved it with TDK DVD-r's. The drive is very sensitive to media and a list is being created at another afterdawn forum for DVDX Copy program. Currently the compatible media listed are Sony DVD+RW, HP DVD+RW, Verbatim DVD+RW, Meritline DVD-R,TDK-R, Memorex DVD+R, and Fujifilm DVD+R.

    Hope this helps
