Don't use USBSSS to rip games, this is old software.
1) Make sure you have VSH menu enabled in Recovery.
2) While you're on your XMB, press the SELECT button, a menu will show up.
3) Change the "USB DEVICE" option to read "UMD Disk", then press select again.
4) Plug your PSP into a computer and activate USB connection.
5) Transfer the file to into your computer, this is the rip of the UMD in your UMD bay.
PSP, all the way from 1.00 to 5.50 GEN D2 - DS Lite w/ M3DS Real (M3 Sakura v1.34)
PS3 3.01 - iPod Touch 2G 16GB Jailbroken - Xbox 360 60GB - PC, Q6600, 3GB DDR2, GTX260 (216) 896MB

Connecting your USB to your PC to copy over a UMD is exactly the same as accessing the memory card. Since this doesn't work, you're saying you can't access even your memory card via USB? o.O

I have been using the usb sss, for a year now with no problems, since I upgraded my psp to 3.90 m33-2, it says the game could not be played. Am I not able to use this with 3.90, or do I need to get the 1.50 kernal?

1.50 Kernel should do the trick.

Please don't use Z's if you don't need them - I find them annoying :)
So anyway, the XMB is simply the PSP Menu with all the multimedia options like Picture, Settings, Movies etc. Recovery can be accessed by doing a hard reboot - Hold down your PSP switch button for maybe 10 seconds. Once it has been switched off properly, hold the R-Trigger down and turn the PSP on like you would normally. Then do your stuff from there. Make sure you have custom firmware though.

Yip - you have obviously got a problem. Is it that you were constantly ribbed for being overweight as a child - or you have a small peepee that you have to call people names.
My bad for bumping the thread!
Bwahahahahahahahaha!

Ah dear, a lesson for you here; read the thread before asking questions :)
Here's something i posted a tiny bit earlier (Which can be seen on this page in quotes:

You can then put that file into the usual place (/ISO/) on your memory stick after you've changed the USB connection back to that.
If you don't for some reason know how to access your recovery menu, then just hold R1 when you turn on your PSP and keep holding it until the menu comes up.
