nero fails because of drive reset

    Burning preauthored video to dvd-r with nero 6 and liteon 851s drive. External drive with usb2 connection. Sometimes works, but overwhelming majority of the time the burn fails, the drive locks up, and the error message says the drive has reset.
    what is the fix for this, or what other info should I be looking for?

    Just upgraded the firmware to the version Liteon made available this month.

    What speed are you burning at? Lots of times a slower burn ie: 4x or even 2.4x will yield positive results when faster ones don't work.
