I am having trouble playing the Who's Tommy and T Rex Electric Warrior. Both are 96Hz/24 bit Advanced Resolution Surround. I can play many other DVD audio discs without any problem (REM, Neil Young Harvest, Pet Sounds, The Last Waltz, etc). Anyone else had problems with these discs or have any suggestions. My DVD player shows it playing at 96Hz/24 bit same as the other discs, but no audio comes out.
hi there, I just purchased the Tommy Disc a couple of hours ago. I cant hear any audio in DVD-Audio mode. I messed around for about 1.5 hours until I searched on the web. Well I found out what my problem is. I have the Pioneer DV-563a . As it turns out there is a firmware update needed in order to play certain newly produced DVD-audio. I think it has something to do with the copy protection. Anyway, if you have the same DVD palyer then thats your issue too. Monday, I'm calling Pioneer to get it straightened out. I'm going to try and get them to send me the firmware disc. They'll try to tell me to take it somewhere to have done. Here is what I found.... "What you should do: Call Pioneer customer support USA: 1-800-421-1404 option 2, option 6 Report your problem, get a case number, and tell them you would prefer updating the firmware at home using a firmware update CD rather than sending the unit in, or driving to a service center. Make sure Pioneer enters this preference in your case number records! If you have already called, let them know you would prefer the update disc!
