I have a movie that has below average video quality. The file is .avi fullscreen. My question is, if i rencode it using widescreen instead of fullscreen, will that give better a better video output due to the fact that the pixels are being compressed to ws instead of staying "stretched", i.e. pixelated in fs mode?

I don't think so, the pixelation will still appear IMHO. It's hard to improve upon the source image.

Well, not specifically, I use DVDRebuilder/CCE all the time and change full to widescreen on movies that don't have it.

I haven't noticed anything like that, but again, I wasn't looking for it. The results do match the original in quality, but I don't think it removes pixelation or errors that were in the source video.

Try it and see, let me know your results. If it does, that would be a good thing to know and pass on...:>)
