Simulation runs OK but burn fails at 2x Before last coaster creation , I had defragged drive, turned off virus scan; dropped burn speed to 2x rather than 4x to be safe, and ran the simualtion. I still got burned failed at 2X just afetr the burn started . Using Maxell MXLRG02 DVD-R (digitalfaq says that it is 1st class media ) Using DVD shrink and Nero 6.0.0.0 LG 4081b with Ver. A104 firmware (latest)set as master on secondary IDE Does the DVD player require periodic cleaning? If so, how? All I can think to do is reinstall Nero at this point? Any ideas? Upgraded to Nero latest version (demo ) and managed to burn next disc okay I defragged again and it burned the burned the next one I tried . ...it then went back to making intermittent coasters . I tried using different media that I had (Sonyd04) It burned the next one okay. ...it then went back to making intermittent coasters . Defragged , tied again ... Getting either "Internal target failure" ot "Focus or tracking error" I previously used several 50 Memorex spindles with not one coaster, and then all of as sudden, the drive started to be flaky. I updated firmware, defragged and have gone to latest Nero version. I tried different media and its still hit or miss. Considering the use I put it to, can you wear out a DVD burner?
