HOW to backup WII GAMES.(guide)

Recommended guide: How to copy Nintendo Wii games (up-to-date)

Use Rawdump 2.1 - link

XP -
start program
open disc tray
insert disc
close tray
click "start dump"

Vista -
open disc tray
start program
insert disc
close tray
click "start dump"

The trick to Vista is to open the disc drive first before starting the program. I don't know why, but on some systems,

the program will crash otherwise.

Or Maybe it is a problem with your drive.

Well before you do that , it also could be the way you have it connected to your computer, or jumper settings.

Here is one thread

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/485164

But you could also google this - rawdump 2.0 Error!! you might have a faulty drive"
And it brings up other solutions.

Question: I am trying to make a back up copy of wii game call of duty world at war but I am having some problems. I am using Rawdump 2.0 on an xp system. Each time I rip the game it gets right near the end and stops. The numbers on rawdump seem to flucuate, ie the time remaining goes from 4:27 to 4:31 to 4:28 and so on... And the file that is created each time is the same at 4.27GB... I have tried Friidump and it just errors out at 4-6% each time. I have also tried Rawdump in safe mode with the same results. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Looks like you have a dirty or scratched original disk.
Clean it or exchange it and retry. If that does not help
you can attempt a third software and give Hektosoft´s
Hektograph shot.

Winrar handles iso images and by default installs an
extension handler that connects to the iso extension.

The image file is complete and ready to go like it is.
There is no need for using Winrar on it.

You can unassociate the ISO tab from winrar, so they will look like ISO image

Just open winrar, go to OPTIONS>Settings>Integration
untick ISO

You need to use Verbatim DVD-R, or at least DVD-R..
Every wii seems different as to what brand it likes.

Burn it at 4x with imgburn.

DVD-RW do not work with ANY degree of reliability, as has been detailed many times in this forum.

I have not seen that ANYONE has had success with DVD-RW.

On my Wii (with YAOSM) Verbatim 6x DVD-RW work flawlessly
even when burned on 6x.

The brand is not the decisive factor.
Important is the type (DVD-R), the recording mode (DAO)
and the recording speed (less than 8x).

The drives laser calibration differs... That´s
mostly the reason for differences - not the brand.
Since all media itself conform to the same standard
definition (DVD-R Spec), there must not be a dependance
to a brand rather than a production charge and
to the recording modes described above. So in general
it is false to say: this or that brand is best.

One gets indeed the most reliable results at 4x

One can use any recording software
that allows recording in DAO mode.

hey all, great site and awesome thread! I've read several pages at the beginning and again at the end..I am wondering if, as of November 10th, a console conneced to Wiiconnect 24 with the most recent updates and unmodified can use the homebrew channel still..I had read elsewhere that you cannot. I have also read about soft modding as opposed to using a modchip. Basically, I'm intereseted in backing up my current library but would prefer not to hard mod my console. Thoughts?
#2872 10 Nov 2009 @ 18:28
There isn't any guide on here to softmod the 4.2, but you can go here - link
Make sure to read fully first

Or to here - link

The second link is probably the recommended one, but both sites are good.

Again make sure to read fully and understand what you are doing.

tyvm for the response and links, I have read through them both and will likely use the second one.
