It's already covered in the Guide on converting AVIs to DVDs. Did you read it?

No. That's not how you do it.

From Page 2 " Preprocessing the Source"

If the movie is in two parts, join it

Now, if your movie is split into two or more parts, you need to join it into a one, using VirtualDub. We suggest that you use this guide to do this.

will the file be huge if i join it??
#6 28 Oct 2004 @ 4:49
It does a direct stream join, meaning it will be exactly the size of file1 plus the size of file2. No encoding here. Just an exact join of your AVI files. Be careful though. It appears to APPEND the 2nd AVI to the first. Thewrefore, it modifies the 1st AVI file. If you wish to maintain the first in its original state, make a copy of it first.

i figured it out, but now when i join the two files theres a part in the middle where it will replay the scene for a couple of seconds... is there anyway i can edit the AVI and cut tho's few seconds off so it joins smoothly?

you guys are making this way too complicated. you don't need to join anything. use TMPEG dvd author and each xvid file will be added as a title which are merged flawlessly. don't waste time trying to merge xvid or divx files prior to converting. just use dvdsanta or cucosoft to create the mpeg2 file. dvdsanta is best to convert directly to dvd format. then use TMPEG dvd author if you want to add menus. a dvd will immediately go from 1 title to another without any skip or gaps

im just saying that whoever split the video files split the second one with the same part as the end of the first 1.

in other words, the end of the first file will say:

"we have 50 hours to live"

and the begining of the second file will say:

"hours to live...."

i am wondering if there is a way i can cut off a few seconds so that when they join it will say

"we have 50 hours to live"

sandora-

what is hard about:
Launch VirtualDub
Locate part #1 video file and click 'Open'.
Next choose File, Append AVI segment.
Select part#2, and click 'Open'.
DONE

?????
Can't get much easier than that.

hbkhhh69,

I warned you yesterday about advertising. Putting it in your sig is no different.

This is your last warning.

The subject of this thread has been very informative to me and asks the very questions I have been seeking answers for. So, I have been following this thread. I noticed in one of your earlier notes that you had a problem with the joined AVI files suddenly measuring 90GB's. Can you tell me how you solved this ?
